We had a wonderful stay at the Summer Heights Villa! Our host Darren was extremely friendly and helped us make some of our pre-travel plans which made the trip begin without a hitch. When we had questions he responded quickly and is certainly familiar with the BVI and the Villa. The Villa is lovely, clean, spacious and well maintained. We appreciated having access to a kitchen that had every appliance and cookware we needed. The living room is comfortable and a nice place to relax. The bedrooms were comfortable too and had all of the amenities we needed. We certainly felt at home and would consider staying at Summer Heights again on future trips to the BVI.

A perfect place to stay when visiting Tortola. The location is central and very convenient for visiting all areas of the island. The bedrooms are all luxurious with comfortable beds and bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is roomy and a great place for families to gather. The best part is the beautiful pool, patio and stunning views across the Sir Francis Drake Channel. I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning villa in the British Virgin Islands, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped foot on the property, I was in awe of the breathtaking views and luxurious surroundings.

The villa itself was a masterpiece of design and comfort. The architecture blended seamlessly with the natural beauty of the island, creating a harmonious and serene atmosphere. The interior was tastefully decorated, with elegant furnishings and high-end amenities that made me feel like I was living in the lap of luxury.

The highlight of the villa was undoubtedly the outdoor space. The expansive terrace offered panoramic views of the crystal-clear turquoise waters and llyhe other islands that we were to visit on our boat charter with Ruby One (highly recommended also). It was the perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee or unwind with a glass of wine as the sun set over the horizon. The pool was an absolute dream.

The staff at the villa were exceptional. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was nothing short of perfect. Darren in particular helped with arranging private boat trips to recommending the best local restaurants, he was always there to assist with any request.

Location-wise, the villa is a bit of a climb but the supplied dodge van had no trouble. It was nestled in a secluded area, offering the utmost privacy and tranquility.

Overall, my experience at Summer heights in the British Virgin Islands was nothing short of extraordinary. It provided a luxurious and idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable vacation in paradise, I highly recommend booking a stay at this remarkable villa. You won’t be disappointed.

“My family had the very great pleasure of staying at Summer Heights in January 2019. We were initially apprehensive about returning to the beloved BVI’s after the devastation of Hurricane Irma, but the owners of Summer Heights reassured us that the recovery was well underway and while there was certainly evidence of the damage when you drove around the island, we were pleasantly surprised that the islands have not lost their charm and friendliness, and it is still one of the jewels of the Caribbean. Much has been rebuilt and the beaches and water around the islands is still incredibly beautiful.

Barry and Susanna are the consummate hosts and attended to our every need before and during our stay. Summer Heights is a delight and there is no more magnificent perch from where to overlook the Sir Francis Drake Channel. The sunsets and sunrises will take your breath away. The starry nights were dazzling. We loved the comfortable rooms and often did not need the air conditioning because of the cooling breeze that came down the channel.

“What a Vacation!! Summer Heights is absolutely perfect! From the breathtaking views to the incredible pool and outdoor dining space, we had the trip of a lifetime. Our family loved the bedrooms each having their own full bath. There was enough space for everyone to have their own individual suites. The living room with TV and comfortable seating for all was great for the ball games the boys wanted to watch. Summer Heights location was also perfect for us as we rented a boat nearby and went island hopping and snorkeling every day. Barry was so helpful from the beginning and with advice, such as provisioning. Our first trip to Tortola was exceptional. Plan to return for sure !!”

“Summer Heights has an incredible view!! Dian (the housekeeper) is a sweetheart and definitely wants to please. The pool was nice and the pool deck was great. The 10 of us (two families with young adults in their 20’s) spent most nights eating at our lovely table overlooking the Caribbean. So awesome!!

The bedrooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning in the bedrooms was great and very much appreciated. The common areas aren’t air-conditioned and we sometimes got hot while cooking if there wasn’t a breeze. The island was having trouble with their cable so we weren’t able to watch any TV but it’s not that we needed to (except for NBA and Stanley Cup playoffs). We also had trouble with being able to use the music provided so we bought a small speaker. Overall, the accommodations are very comfortable and clean. After visiting numerous Caribbean islands, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent grocery store in Roadtown (the ‘big” Rite Way).

You get used to the Summer Heights’ driveway but it’s a bit scary at first! We enjoyed diving, a catamaran sail, trips to various beaches (including trips to Jost van Dike via the West End Ferry at $25 round trip) and some excellent local restaurants. The customs people at the ferry are nice but incredibly slow so be prepared for a long wait if you use the ferry system. Some of our group flew in and didn’t have that problem but the airport is 45-60 minutes away. You definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get around (lots of hills!!). Overall, Summer Heights is an excellent and gorgeous place to stay and we had a fantastic vacation!”

“Breath taking views! Words cannot express the many thanks I have for you all for our comfortable and most memorable vacation yet. From the moment we got through customs the people of the island were so friendly. Dian meet us right on time and took us immediately to a little market. We got food and headed to the villa. Dian was so helpful throughout the whole stay. She was right there with a quick response to solve any problem.

The villa: The villa is absolutely beautiful. Besides getting over the terrain of getting to the villa, I will never say we have steep hills back here at home, it is just perfect. We had a big group (13 of us) and it accommodated us perfectly. If someone wanted to get away they could because of the grand size of the villa. I stayed in the master suite in the little house by the pool. Do any of you know the brand of the mattress?! That was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on! Likewise, the rest of the group said the same about their mattress. The views were just breath-taking!

Dian and pool guy (I forget his name) {that’s Errol!}: Thank you so much for the greeting at the dock, the pit stop at the store, and the patience with our group. You were a great help answering any question we had during the stay. Thank you for immediately solving problems while we were staying at the villa. When we got to the villa it was clean, the beds were made, and the pool was ready. Thank you again for being there during our stay.

I would recommend this property to anyone. Perfect location to all the beaches. Cannot wait to go back!”

“Fantastic stay at Summer Heights. Listing is accurate for all information. We had 12 people in our party, and the property accommodated all our needs, it was the perfect base in Tortola. We actually only had dinner out a couple nights, as the kitchen was great and it was so enjoyable to cook in and make cocktails and be able to look out at the incredible view Summer Heights offers while the kids played in the pool. The bedrooms are spacious and great for kids and adults. Great sound system with clear instructions, and computer and WiFi. Rosalind and Barry answered all our questions prior to arriving and were a great help with island information. Dian met us at Jerry’s Car Rental and guided us to the house and gave us a great orientation. Close to Nanny Cay and Road Town, but far enough away to be totally secluded. We explored many islands in the BVIs on our vacation, and at the end of each day it was great to return to Summer Heights and relax, enjoy the view of the islands (and the stars), listen to the night sounds, and totally chill and escape the rat race. We highly recommend Summer Heights!”

“Summer Heights is Fabulous!
We had never been to the BVI before and I have to say that Roz and Barry really took great care of us with this fabulous home. The home is sizeable and allows for extreme comfort for 12 people. The views were unbelievable and the staff was willing to help with anything. The roads in Tortola and up to the house are not for the lax driver, so you definitely need the 4 wheel drive (we used it all the time on the hills) but it sure made for some great adventures all around the island. Thanks to all at Summer Heights we recommend it highly and would love to come back soon.”

“Summer Heights is an excellent vacation rental located in a wonderful central location on Tortola. It is all that is advertised and more. Clean, nicely maintained with wonderful amenities. “We were fortunate to be able to bring our 3 children and their spouses to Summer Heights to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The Villa exceeded our expectations in every way. We were able to be together using the large outdoor table for as our gathering place for everything from meals to cards and games. We gathered there every morning to plan our day. Having internet access was a huge plus for our kids and the computer for our own use was also very nice. The kitchen had everything including a separate mine-fridge for drinks. We were able to make use of the coolers as we headed out every day with a picnic lunch. This was our 4th trip to Tortola–1st for the kids–and we love it. Summer Heights was the best place we have found in all of our stays!!”

“Summer Heights was idyllic. The view is unbeatable, and the owners friendly. The kitchen is especially well equipped, and accommodated 4 gourmet cooks. The information book from the owners was well organized and maintained. The drawback is the steep driveway, which needed a better driver than I and a better 4 wheel drive vehicle than we had. Luckily, someone in our party could do it, but it needs to be considered. Restaurants: Hated Pussers at Sopers’ Hole, Loved BananaKeet, really like Jolly Roger, and loved the Roti Palace, a tiny joint in Roadtown. Enjoyed sailing and snorkeling with Patouche 2, though they were far (East End) and the boat was not so well maintained. Crew was great though. Did not like the spa service from West End so much. Prices were higher than advertised, and massage therapists were uneven. One was great, one was awful. Bobby’s in Roadtown was a much better market than Rite Way. The description was accurate, and provided all the relevant information. The Property was clean and well maintained. The Customer service was kind and outstanding. The On-premises-owners were always available, never intrusive. I would decidedly return– and recommend this property to a friend.”

“My four children ages 19 to 25 and I spent a wonderful Spring Break at Summer Heights. The home is lovely. The owners are very hospitable, and the view is out of a postcard. Barry and Roz truly treat their guests as guests. One is made to feel very at home. They provided us with a meal plan option, and we ordered six meals. Each was restaurant worthy. Barry and Roz also were great sources for places to go and things to do. The home was well maintained, and comfortable for all. I would definitely love to return and certainly recommend it.”

“We stayed at Summer Heights for a week in October. The property is well tucked away on a lush hillside seemingly far away from the cruise passengers who come in for daily visits (but only 15 minutes from Roadtown). The house is beautiful and well equipped with everything and more you will need during your stay. Although all of the rooms have air conditioning we never had to use it because there was plenty of breeze coming in from the screened windows and sliding doors. The pool was an added benefit, we loved hanging out in the pool in the mornings while planning our day and in the afternoon after long days at the beach. Bonus, you can hook up your mp3 player to their stereo that also had outdoor speakers next to the pool. The view overlooking the sea at Norman and Peter Island is absolutely breathtaking and we often just hung outside in the poolside chairs, drink in hand, taking it all in. Nanny Cay Marina and Soper’s Hole are both close and good for a little shopping and Smuggler’s Cove was only a 15 minute bumpy ride and turned out to be our favorite beach. Barry and Roz were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, knew how to get around and gave us some wonderful suggestions for local places. Thanks again for providing such a lovely oasis!!!!”

“What a great time we had at Summer Heights! This was our third time staying with Barry and Roz and their hospitality was wonderful! Each trip, we have brought a new person along with our family and they have each been completely “wowed” by Tortola and the views from Summer Heights. Driving up the road to the villa is crazy but after doing it numerous times we are used to the climb and our son loves the 4-wheeling adventure. We love gazing out at the Channel from the pool deck and our son loves seeing the sailboats passing by. And having a pool right at the property is so nice. Some days, we just stayed at the villa and relaxed and other days we voyaged to beaches at Smuggler’s Cove, Long Bay, and Cane Garden Bay. Another day, we took the ferry over to Jost Van Dyke and just hung out at White Bay. Using Summer Heights as our base worked great for all that. We also enjoy the close proximity to Nanny Cay for groceries, restaurants and shopping. Our family definitely recommends Summer Heights. We love it there!”

“Our extended family of 10 recently returned from a family vacation at Summer Heights, and were very pleased with the accommodations. The grandchildren enjoyed the pool and the internet and the games, and the adults enjoyed the comfortable beds and the spacious and well-appointed bath rooms adjoining each room. The kitchen was well equipped with all the items necessary to prepare and serve our food. The dining table was large enough for us all to gather around, and was well protected from the rain, provided the wind was not blowing strongly.The views are magnificent, and the outdoor furniture was very comfortable. The only real surprise for someone not familiar with the terrain were the roads. But Roz will guide you up and around the 4 hairpin turns to the villa, where you will descend through a short 45-degree driveway into a courtyard where your rental car can be parked. And from then on, part of your vacation excitement will be as you traverse the “roads” up and down the Tortola hilside. Roz and Barry are excellent hosts, remaining discretely hidden in their downstairs rooms until you need them, and then they will provide assistance and information as you require it, including which taxi to call if you need one(not all of them wish to travel over that road!). Our family all agree that the accommodations were first-rate, and we certainly would entertain the possibility of staying there again, if we are able to return sometime.”
